This is a 1990 Land Rover Defender 110 that was frame-off restored by Pon Steyn 4x4 in South Africa. This example was also outfitted with a powerful General Motors V8 LS3 Corvette Engine and a 6-speed Automatic transmission.
The combination of the powerful engine with a smooth transmission, makes this Defender a pleasure to drive around town and on the highway where it feels comfortable with power to spare.
As mentioned, the LS3 is a very powerful engine, especially for a naturally aspirated engine at the time of its introduction. From the initial offering in the Corvette, this engine could be purchased in a package capable of outputting 430 horsepower at 5900 RPM and 424 lb-ft at 4600 RPM.
The interior is outfitted with high quality leather throughout, and an Alpine infotainment system that is Apple Car Play ready. Pon Steyn 4x4 have built a reputation as some of the best Defender restorers and exporters in the world. This particular Defender was also featured in a Business Insider article and can be seen by clicking here.
The front and rear brakes were upgraded to accompany the upgraded suspension and more powerful drivetrain. A full list of upgrades is available upon request. This example has been outfitted to perform and handle better than most modern day SUVs, while retaining the rigidity and 4x4 capabilities of a true Defender.
